LA VERSA 1905 - 2005
La Versa is the winery symbol in
the Oltrepo'Pavese. Its History started over 100 years ago, in 1905, amongst the hospitable and fertile hills of the Versa
valley.
This territory, closely linked to wine, gives birth to its best products which are the results of the passion and
work of wine dressers, agronomists and cellar workers.
The 750 La Versa's shareholders (all wine farmers whose vineyards
extend over 5,200 acres covering the entire length of the valley) have practiced the ancient arts of vine growing and wine
making for decades.
Their grandparents had already modeled the landscape in order to achieve the best quality in vine growing.
For this reason, after 100 years, La Versa is now entering a new and stimulating period.
La Versa winery is a place of
many stories of men and women sharing the same aim: giving value to their land and wines.
When you enter the cellar at
La Versa, you will learn an ancient art, you will listen to wise words, you will smell unique perfumes, you will taste wines
reflecting the Oltrepo' Pavese character and telling the story of a the sunny valley where grapes grow like in no other place.
All
the vineyards, owned by our growers, are in the Versa valley in the heart of the Oltrepo’ Pavese, an area located south of
the Po River in the Pavia region. In such natural amphitheatre, our vineyards find the most suitable environment to give their
best fruits; in fact the Oltrepo’ Pavese is located in the so called “wine belt” area which is right on the 45th Parallel,
at precisely half way between the North Pole and the Equator. Winegrowing is here favored by proper microclimatic conditions
with high daytime temperatures (although never excessive), constant ventilation and excellent soil composition.
Oltrepo’
Pavese is the third largest producer of Pinot Noir in the world (following the Bourgogne and the Champagne region); here nature
has been superbly preserved. The air is clean and the landscape consists of vineyards and little villages where you can still
find the atmosphere of the past centuries. Oltrepo' Pavese offer the visitors the charm and the taste of one of the most beautiful
and authentic place of Italy

OUR WINES
It is in this land, where Mother Nature has been especially generous, that the hand of man can best express itself. It is
in such a place that one can realistically strive toward perfection, fine-tuning both the subtlest details and the overall
effect.
The range of our fine wines is the embodiment of our endeavors toward perfection. Each and every wine encapsulates
the exceptional quality of the soil in which the vines are planted, the beneficial effects of the microclimatic conditions,
under which they are cultivated, and the art of the wine-making process which transform them into wine. True greatness, can
only be achieved when all the determining factors come together in a similar harmony.
The line Terre D’Alteni
is a range of excellent wines obtained from grapes and vineyards carefully selected and controlled by La Versa’s agronomist.
These wines are the fruit of a "quality project" developed in the last years in order to offer a prestigious wine
of guaranteed quality, true expression of our territory.
La Versa wines are the protagonists of the modern dining
table, since they are capable of transforming a simple gathering into an event. Every bottle coming from La Versa Winery tells
the story and conveys the knowledge of the people who have contributed to produce our wines.
The best sparkling
wines (like Testarossa) are produced following the “Classic” method and are made from “Pinot Nero”
grapes that are the symbol and the best expression of our vineyards in the Oltrepo’ Pavese.
The Strong liaison
with this territory is well represented by our important red wines like: Pinot Noir, Barbera, Sangue Di Giuda and by
our superior white wines like Pinot Grigrio, Riesling, and Moscato.
